A note on transparency

I'm the founder of Slice of the Pie. I have an obvious stake in this comparison. I've done my best to be fair — but you should read this knowing my perspective. Where I describe SpredX, I'm working from their public positioning and market reputation, not insider knowledge. If anything here is inaccurate about SpredX, I'd genuinely want to know.

The honest truth about the $1K vs $2K decision

Here's the way I explain it to every business that asks me directly:

$1,000/month gives you presence. You get a maintained website, social media posts, and basic SEO activity. You'll stay competitive with other small businesses in Salem who aren't doing much. You won't lose ground. But you probably won't gain significant ground either.

$2,000/month gives you growth infrastructure. At this level, we're running actual paid campaigns, doing weekly creative tests, tracking every call to its source ad, optimizing your GBP, and reporting on what moved revenue — not what looked busy. This is the level where marketing starts to be a growth lever rather than a cost center.

The math is straightforward: if a single new customer for your home services business is worth $300–$500, and we can reliably generate 10–20 new customers per month, the $2,000 management fee pays for itself before your ad spend even factors in.

If you're a very early-stage business where one new customer doesn't move the needle that significantly, start with SpredX or a similar entry-tier agency. Build your baseline. Come to us when you're ready to scale it.

Where Slice of the Pie has a clear advantage

1. Named brand case studies

We've worked with Liquid Death, Chemical Guys, Mr. Rooter, Mosquito Joe, Sunday Golf, Chomps, and others. These aren't "a local business in Salem" — they're recognizable brands with documented results. If you're a Salem home services company or a DTC brand that wants to know an agency can handle your scale, our client list is the proof.

2. The 90-day ROAS guarantee

Our guarantee is simple and in the SOW: if your blended ROAS doesn't improve in 90 days, we work for free until it does. No escape hatches. We can offer this because we're confident in our methodology — and because we don't take clients we can't deliver for.

3. Home services as a first-class vertical

We built our agency around two ICPs: home services in the Pacific Northwest and DTC e-commerce. That means our playbooks, our creative templates, our LSA management systems, and our conversion tracking setup are all tuned for these verticals. We're not adapting a generalist methodology to your industry — we built for it.

4. Week-by-week accountability

Monthly reports are backwards. By the time you get a monthly report, you've already burned three weeks of budget on a campaign that should have been paused at day 10. We send weekly briefs, catch problems fast, and adjust. You always know what's working and what isn't.

Where SpredX likely has an advantage

Price

SpredX's entry pricing is more accessible. For a Salem business with a very limited budget, $1K/month gets you more activity than trying to stretch $2K to cover both management and ad spend.

General web presence

For Salem businesses that just need someone to keep their website updated, post to social media, and do basic citation management, a generalist agency at $1K/month is probably right-sized. Performance marketing at $2K/month doesn't make sense if you don't have the ad budget to give it leverage.

The upgrade path: how SpredX clients come to us

We get a meaningful number of our clients from SpredX. The pattern is always the same: they started with SpredX, built their basic web presence, grew to where paid ads made sense, and then needed an agency that could run those campaigns with real attribution and accountability.

This is not a knock on SpredX — it's how the market should work. Different agencies serve different stages. If you're reading this page, you've probably outgrown the entry tier and you're looking for what comes next. That's us.
